More about Dyer's Cottage (the location)

Dyer's Cottage is a lovingly renovated 17th century cottage which was once part of a farmhouse. Inhabited by my family for over 200 years, this is a very special place for you to stay as it combines restored character features with a feeling of luxury.
Situated in Calderdale between Halifax and trendy Sowerby Bridge,it has easy access to the Calder and Hebble Navigation, the Rochdale Canal, the moors of the South Pennines, Bronte Country and the Yorkshire Dales NP. If you enjoyed the scenery of the BBC series Last Tango in Halifax and Happy Valley, this is the place for you!
Close to railway stations, buses, real ale pubs, shops, restaurants, a car isn't essential. Easy day trips are possible to Manchester, Leeds and York too.

Dyer's Cottage (the cottage)

Dyer's Cottage sleeps 2 people in either a super king Hypnos bed or this can be configured as 2 long twin beds. A child is also welcome and can either sleep in a Z bed or travel cot, both of which are available and can be placed either in the bedroom or on the spacious landing.
The cottage offers a real 'home from home' experience for you with complimentary bath products, a welcome pack, free Wifi, a flat screen SMART tv with freeview, lots of kitchen equipment, high quality plain bed linen, towels and furnishings, local artwork and restored original features like ceiling beams, exposed stone walls, pine doors and a beautiful stone fireplace with gas fired stove to supplement the gas central heating if you are feeling a little cold.
The staircase has an old handrail to assist you but please be aware that the stairs are steep and slightly irregular but this just adds to the charm of living in such an old property. However, the kitchen and bathroom are thoroughly 21st century. The oak worktops and Shaker style units fit with the character features like a 1650 mullion window and the electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge with small freezer, and microwave. Upstairs, the spacious bathroom has grey porcelain tiled walls and floor, a large shower/bath with an Aqualisa digital shower and glossy white units one of which hides the washer/dryer.
There is a desk on the landing if you have to work from home.
The sunny, sheltered front garden enables you to enjoy the view and relax with a good book. There are steps up from the on road parking but there is an alternative access through the rear courtyard.
