More about Cordwainer Cottage (the location)

Welcome to Cordwainer Cottage, a cosy stone built cottage on the outskirts of the pretty Staffordshire Moorlands village of Bagnall. Situated in the grounds of Stoney Villa Farm, a smallholding which was previously used for sheep farming, the cottage offers an ideal rural break.

The cottage sleeps two and has been awarded three stars by Visit England

Cordwainer Cottage (the cottage)

As recorded in the 1851 Census,Cordwainer Cottage was originally a workshop for shoemakers who lived and worked at Stoney Villa Farm.

The stone building has been sympathetically converted into what is now a cosy and welcoming self-catering cottage. The Cottage is about 20 yards from the main house and has its own lawned garden, with a picnic table and views over the countryside. Plenty of car parking space is available on a gated yard.

All the rooms are on the ground level. Entry is through the spacious lounge which is comfortably furnished and has a dining area at one end. The well equipped kitchen is off a small corridor, close to the dining area, and a modern shower room adjoins it. At the back of the cottage is the bedroom which sleeps two in a double bed and has views over the garden.

Please note - access to the cottage involves a step up of approximately eight inches (20cm) at the entrance.

There are fitted carpets throughout and, with storage heaters in each room, the cottage is extremely cosy even in the coldest months.

Walkers will enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside from the elevated position of the farm. There are extensive public footpaths nearby. Within a short drive, there is a golf course, a reservoir used for sailing, a riding school, tennis and cricket clubs. Two leisure centres nearby offer swimming, squash and badminton amongst other sports.

There are plenty of good restaurants and pubs nearby should visitors not wish to spend too much time in the kitchen. A list is provided in the Cottage.

Please note that we have a no smoking and a no pets policy.
