More about Holly Lodge (the location)

Holly Lodge has been converted to a 3-star tourist board standard, and is situated adjacent to Holly Tree Cottage which was built in the 17th century in the traditional Herefordshire half-timbered style.

We are at Burley Gate, just off a quiet lane midway between the cathedral city of Hereford and Bromyard, in the heart of rural Herefordshire. Distant views of the Welsh mountains may be enjoyed from the upstairs windows of the Lodge.

The area has many attractions nearby, including the fascinating ?black and white? villages, the world-famous Mappa Mundi, the Wye Valley, and many gardens and properties open to the public. Excellent walking country can be found both locally among the famous cider apple orchards, and on the Offa?s Dyke Long Distance Path along the Herefordshire and Welsh borders.

The renowned theatre at Stratford-on-Avon is within easy reach, as are the acclaimed arts, poetry, music, food, jazz and photography festivals held annually at nearby Hay-on-Wye, Ledbury, Malvern, Ludlow, Brecon and Hereford. Sporting activities of all kinds are close at hand, from canoeing on the River Wye to racing at Hereford, Ludlow and Cheltenham.

Burley Gate has a village Post Office / newsagent / food shop only a few minutes walk down the lane.
Sadly there is no longer a public house in the village, though there are 5 or 6
within a few miles, all of which serve food at the bar or in their restaurants.

Full details of places to visit may be found in the Lodge on arrival.

The comfortably-furnished spacious sitting room is triple aspect, with colour television, electric fire, books and games. Double French doors lead to a patio garden for the use of the Lodge guests. There is ample off-road private parking for two cars.
The spacious bathroom is also on the ground floor and is equipped with a full-sized bath with shower over, and a shaver point.
