More about Laurel Cottage (the location)

Relax in style and tranquil surroundings at Laurel Cottage...

Located in the Forest of Dean, near the Wye Valley, yet only seven miles from Gloucester, Laurel Cottage is tucked away in the grounds of an 18-century farmhouse in the sleepy hamlet of Chaxhill.
Recently refurbished and graded Four Star by Enjoy England’s Quality Assurance board, there’s a double and single bedroom, lounge with wood burner, TV, DVD, HiFi, board games, books and comfy sofas.
Enjoy the well-equipped kitchen or BBQ in the private patio garden. Nearby facilities include walking, rambling, horse riding, fishing, mountain biking and boarding, and even water skiing. There are activities for all types of interests, including food, active or relaxation.

Although located in rural Gloucestershire, Chaxhill is perfectly positioned for day trips to the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley, Herefordshire, Monnmouthshire and the Cotswolds. Regency Cheltenham, Ross on Wye, Chepstow and Ledbury are less than half an hour drive away.

Nearby are many great country pubs with restaurants, the closest three are just one mile away. The local shop is a Rick Stein’s ‘food hero’. The Severn and Wye Smokery supplies the basics plus mouth-watering fish and game, while nearby villages provide everything else.

This self-catering holiday cottage makes for a great stay when visiting Gloucestershire for the annual Cheltenham Gold Cup festival in March, as Cheltenham racecourse is a mere 30 minutes away.
