Hop House at Fox Valley Cottages

Hop House Is an upstairs apartment with a large low window facing west, with wonderful views across to the Cornish Alps and perfect for sunset worshippers. It sleeps up to 5 and features exposed stone walls.

Most of the old estates of Cornwall were self-sufficient in their beer and cider-making. It must have helped on the long winter evenings! They would typically have a hop garden and several fields of grist or malt. Lanlawren was no exception.

The grist and corn mills were fed by Peakswater and are referred to in the 13th Century records. The original Hop House had a keystone dated 1601.
