More about Charlestown (the location)

This fabulous barn restoration is situated in the 18th Century Georgian harbour of Charlestown, approximately two miles from St Austell. It is the oldest building in the picturesque harbour village of Charlestown. Built by Sir Charles Rashleigh for the export of China Clay, this Georgian village is still centred on the harbour - the base for Square Sails fleet of square rigged sailing vessels. fleet of ships and the village itself are often used for filming - "The Three Musketeers", "The Eagle has Landed" etc. The village has two popular local pubs which serve good meals and there is also a restaurant and tea rooms. Charlestown is only a short drive to the Eden project and well located for visiting the attractions of the Cornish Riviera or touring all of Cornwall. The present owner has lovingly restored it, creating an elegant home comprising of two double bedrooms, large drawing room, well equipped kitchen, dining room, sun room and small but very pretty garden and terrace. This lovely home is 50 yards from a quaint traditional fishing harbour and only a stone’s throw from an unspoilt beach and boasts stunning views of the ocean from every room. The entrance to the property is approached through the court yard where two cars can be parked and up some steps to the front door.

Charlestown is a popular deep water harbour which more often than not have old masked sailing boats moored, attracts many visitors through out the year, as well as film crews who transform this harbour of beautifully pastel coloured cottages into the setting for many films such as Jane Austen.
