More about Lochend Cottage (the location)

Lochend is a detached highland cottage which was originally built for an Applecross estate worker. It sits beside Loch a’ Mhuilinn which is well known for its rare flora and fauna including many rare orchids. This quaint Scottish cottage is set in a secluded spot by a small loch and only a half mile walk to the golden sandy beach at Applecross.

This cosy secluded cottage for two offers uninterrupted views across the Sound to the islands of Raasay, Rona and Skye beyond. Lochend has its own secure garden which backs onto open hill-side, it is just half a mile to Applecross with a hotel renowned for its excellent food, and a beautiful beach perfect for swimming, fishing or just relaxing. There are some amazing walks along this beautiful coast; eagles, eider duck, mergansers and sea-birds can be seen in the bays, as well as seals and otters.

This traditional cottage is situated on its own by the side of the loch, and though totally private, it is within easy walking distance of the world famous Applecross Inn and two other places to eat. These are:

The cottage has been completely modernised to ensure that your comfort is a priority. To this end the cottage is doubled glazed and has an air sourced heating system which is ECO friendly. The cottage consists of four rooms, a double bedroom, a modern galley kitchen, a modern bathroom and a sitting room.
