More about Sunflower Holiday Cottage (the location)

Bernadette and Sam Davies welcome you to Sunflower Cottage, ideally located, being close to the east coast and close to the Lincolnshire wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty. This luxury, romantic, holiday cottage has been lovingly converted from a small Victorian barn and is situated in the hamlet of Thoresthorpe, in the countryside yet only half a mile from the market town of Alford. Alford is well known for its craft fairs which are held regularly throughout the year and weekly in the summer. Nestled at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds, it is 400 yards from the working windmill at Alford. The windmill has a tea rooms serving delicious cream teas and light lunches. The cottage is only 7 miles from sandy beaches, half a mile from shops, pubs and restaurants, fishing and golf are 4 miles away. If you like walking there are conservation walks from the cottage or for the more adventurous, the Lincolnshire Wolds. The historic market town of Louth with its quaint streets and shops is only 20 minutes away. One hour from the beautiful city of Lincoln, with its stunning cathedral and huge variety of shops. Horncastle, a must for any antiques or bric a brac collectors, is half an hours drive away.

Sunflower Holiday Cottage (the cottage)

The kitchen/dining area has a fully fitted kitchen with oven, hob and extractor, fridge with ice box, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a dining table with seating for four. A highchair is also available.

The lounge area has a 28" widescreen digital TV with freeview, a DVD player (free use of our DVD collection), or if you prefer to listen to a cd or the radio, there is a micro hi fi system with CD collection.We also have a selection of games,puzzles and books to keep you entertained. There are large windows and french doors, with views over the private, secure, west-facing garden. Many different bird species are attracted to the garden and bird bath and they can be viewed from the comfy sofas! From the garden there are good views of Alford's working windmill and across open fields, to the Lincolnshire wolds. A picnic bench and barbeque are provided, if you fancy a bit of al fresco dining.

THE MAIN BEDROOM

The pretty double bedroom is decorated in a country cottage style. The 'Laura Ashley' bed linen is soft, white cotton with a beautiful American patchwork quilt over. Fluffy white bath towels are provided. There are two bedside tables with lamps and a wardrobe. The spotlights can be controlled from the bed and can also be dimmed. There is a full length mirror and also a small mirror with dressing shelf and stool below. A hairdryer is also supplied for your convenience.

BEDROOM TWO

Bedroom two has a pretty cream single metal bed with a very comfortable mattress. There is also room for a cot,if required.Cot not supplied. There is also a bedside table with a lamp and a wardrobe. The spotlights can be dimmed.

THE BATHROOM

The bathroom has a luxurious spa bath. Speakers have been installed, to enable you to listen to the radio or a cd, whilst relaxing in the bath! There is a chrome heated towel rail to warm up your towels and the large basin has a mirror with light and shaver point over. Hand wash, foam bath and shower gel are supplied, for your convenience.
