More about Shepherd's Rest (the location)

Craig and Nicola Langton warmly welcome you to a stay at Shepherd's Rest, a self catering cottage, set on a working sheep farm in Burton Overy, a conservation village, in the beautiful south Leicestershire countryside. This one bedroomed cosy retreat, adjoining the main 17th century farmhouse, has been newly converted for 2006 and retains many of its original period features. It is a great place to stay if you are a walker, conservationist, ornithologist or someone who just loves the countryside.

You can start your day with freshly laid free-range eggs for breakfast and then from your door enjoy a walk over ancient ridge and furrow pastures, taking in the many varieties of farmland birds and visiting our rare hay meadow or newly planted woodland. Then round off the day nicely by eating at the local Inn (within staggering distance) which serves top quality home cooked food.

The cottage is also an excellent haven for travellers or those working in the City of Leicester or Market Harborough, these places being only approximately 20 minutes' drive away.

Prices include central heating, electricity, linen, towels and a basket of logs. A welcome pack is also provided for those essential food supplies - we can be flexible so please enquire when telephoning what you will need for your stay. There is ample parking in the cobbled courtyard outside the cottage. We regret we cannot accommodate pets or smokers.

Shepherd's Rest (the cottage)

The comfortable living area contains a sofa which can be turned into a child's bed (under 12) if required. There is also a TV and DVD player and a wood burning stove for those chilly evenings! The fully fitted kitchenette is well equipped with microwave, washer/dryer and everything you need for successful self-catering. The bedroom contains a lovely antique style 5ft wide brass bed, large fitted wardrobes and a CD player / radio alarm clock. The bathroom is kept beautifully warm with a generous heated towel rail. There is also a shower over the bath and a victorian clothes airer. Outside there is ample off-road parking. If you fancy a break from cooking, the village pub is a stone's throw away and boasts a large and varied menu.
